Default cold air kit and segregating the air filter form heat soak

Noticed that quite a few cars with induction cones have boxed off the area surrounding the filter and have dedicated cold air feeds.

noticed during elvington and particularly on a trackday that the induction cone was getting hot to touch

question is their a kit that I can buy to do this?

Gravel,

Make it yourself.

Harvey will sort out some carbon fibre sheet and just cut it yourself to fit. Line it with some heat reflective material and your sorted.

Or just get some thin ali sheet from B&Q and cut to shape with scissors. Its good enough.

Go back to the std. air box, it's one of the best designed parts of the car..!

Much easier..!

There was someone selling heat shields for after market induction kits on ebay!
Not sure if he's still doing them? but i think they were model/year specific and he only did a few.... can't remember which ones though, sorry.

Might be worth a search anyway, you might get lucky

Mark: Bring a bit of cardboard round and I will cut you the template size. It is dead easy. All you need to do is put in the holes to suit your application (induction kit and location or whatever clutter is in the way on your installation) and then clad it with a heat blanket. Any mistakes can be rectified with the heat blanket.
Dump the carbon canister. It makes it even easier.
I use carbon fibre which I usually have here and also have heat blanket here too that can be cut to size so you do not end up with a full sheet.
Carbon fibre is not a good insulator on its own.
Unfortunately, alluminium is good at transfering heat but it is better than nothing.
I have finished mine off with a door trim strip along the top that makes it neat.
If somebody wants to put a photo of what I am referring to on here, e-mail me and I will send a couple of pics. No idea how to put them on myself.
Phone before you come round or the dog might eat you.

I intend to finish my ali shield off with radiator insulation. The Ali on its own is surprisingly good from my tests anyway but the insulation will complete it.

Harvey, where did you get your weatherstrip from?
