Talking Engine causing car to shake {Not a Scooby}

Ok, i know it's not a Scooby but there's a wealth of expertise in here and I've tried registering on a Pug Forum but it keeps saying **** off

My mates got an S Reg Peugout 106 1600 GTi, and the whole car kinda shakes with the engine, everything vibrates the dashboard the lot, even at idle. You can feel it quite predominantly in the footwells particulalry when accelerating. It's worse at mid range RPM and less worse at the higher range.

The car otherwise seems fine, it's not misfiring or lacking in performance {other than what it should do }

The problem most definately feels mechanical.

Any suggestions?

Hi Zhast

Engine/gearbox mount??

That is presuming its firing on all 4 cylinders

Or some sly tool monkey swapped it for a diesel when your mate had his back turned

does the gearstick shack about aswell???

Id bet its either a drive shaft or an engine mount!

If its the mount then it will prob do a shaft or bearing if you keep driving it!

As Ali says, it don't sound like it's running all 4 cylinders.

Has it got a coil pack across the top of the plugs that runs all four cylinders? These are prone to giving up on pugs.
As said could also be engine/gearbox mounting.

Hi ALi Long time ..........

We were initially thinking mount, but it's all too 'in tune' for my liking. My experience with fecked mounts is that they normally clonk one way then tuther on acceleration and deceleration? But this is a definate shaking/vibration.

I'd agree on the not firing on all 4's because that what it kinda feels like, but other than the shaking the car is defo running fine - {if you ignore the blue smoke that belches out the back when he floors it lol }

The gear stick doesn't vibrate either. And it's not making gone driveshafty clicking round corners sort of noises.

Cheers guys
