Default How much to re-gas AIRCON?

Subject says it all really.

My AIRCON is no longer effective and I guess the first thing I should try is re-gassing the system.

Does anyone know how much this is likely to cost?

Regards
John

im an A/C engineer and just to warn u that if the system has no charge, then there is a leak. Most likely in the condenser, which can be expensive to replace. Dont let a garage charge u for a re-gas unless they have found the leak. typical cost would be around £75+VAT.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful.

Presumably they can check for leaks prior to re-gassing?

I live near Cardiff, would you know of any companies that undertake this sort of job or should I just go through Yellow Pages?

My scooby's for sale and I want it to be perfect.

MY98 on a nice plate S100BYS.

Cheers

Yeah they can pressure test the system with O.F.N (oxygen free nitrogen) or if the leak isnt very obvious they can charge the system as normal and put a leak detector fluid in with it. This would involve a return visit in say a fortnight to check for leaks using a UV light which picks up the fluid quite easily. im not sure of companys in your area. If its a small leak, just get it gased up and it might last til u sell the car.
