Question mph to kph speedo???

I have a jdm my93 ra which at present has a 120 mph clock. Its obviously been converted at some point. Now the mileometer has stoped working.
So I purchaced a new unit
I bought a clock binicle off a breaker (in full working order) but the mph clock face goes upto 180mph.

Will I be able to do a straight swap without replaceing the clock face. ie the new 180mph for my old 120mph one. Or is it a bit more complex?

Any ideas?

Cheers

I suppose it depends how it was originally converted.

I have an import wrx and an import mr2 turbo both still read in kph

I could buy a little switch thing that goes behind the speedo or on the gearbox not sure which. This will change the current speedo to the correct speed.

Some people go for a replacement dial cover which goes over the existing dial. The needle still goes up like normal but because the new cover has mph on it it shows in mph.

I assume if your car has been converted with switch thing then fitting the new clock would work.

If it has had a cover put on it then you would need to swap the cover over too.

cheers

you may need a dongle for that to work(more than likely), or change the drive cog in the gearbox from what you have to what was in the car (worst possible case is that you will need a custom one made with x amount of teeth on it, I dont know how many, but this alters the speedo ratio) also spedo recalibrators may offer this as a service, they advertise this in the autotrader.
