Default My98 Leaking Water from Radiator

Hi guys

Wonder if you can help please.

MY98 is leaking water. I tried to see where it's coming from.

There appears to be two radiators one right at the front and lower down than another directly behind it.

The leak is from the larger of the two (with the two fans) and it squirts out like a water pistol when the throttle is pressed.

I'm assuming this is the main radiator? Is the smaller one situated in front of this for Aircon?

So, I guess my options are - get the radiator fixed or replace.

Anyone done a fix or replacement? Just wonder if replacing is this a job I could undertake or is it very difficult?

Is it more ecconomical to do a repair?

TIA

John

you will find a big crack down the front of the drivers side end tank on the radiator, its a common fault.

the only thing to do is replace the radiator i am afraid!

its not a hard job to be honest

John, don't risk second hand radiators mate. Contact your local radiator outlet and ask them to supply new core, they can put tanks back on mate.

Cost about 70-80 quid.

If you do it yourself it's not a big job, just make sure that you don't shear off the nuts that hold the fan-plates on at the bottom, engine side, 10mm IIRC.

Just undo a couple of turns and lift up towards you, took me about an hour but be careful when you refill system.

Si.

Thanks Si,

I think I'll get one as new and fit myself.

Thanks for the hints about the fixings

No need to open a new thread.. I have the same problem. There is leakage at the right part(plastic side) of the radiator. Would it be possible make it fixed by a radiator shop or do i really need to change the radiator??
