I have a vf34 on a Ibiza cupra which i like. But it may be diff on a scoob. Td05 (link above may be an option). Probably best speaking to one of the tuning bods. You might as well have a turbo which can go a little further than you want it to. Because once you have 300-320bhp you will want 350bhp. Its just goes on and on LOL.

Edited to say whats the stnd uk turbo capable of.

Present modifications?

Do you mind trashing the gearbox?

Power ambitions/budget?

Reasonable power ranges on believable dynos with just Optimax, and figures that can be achieved more than once in a blue moon I would suggest as follows:

TD04 260 BHP, VF35 or 28 320 BHP, VF34 330 BHP, TD05 340 BHP, TD05/06-20G 380 BHP.

Td05/vf34 should be okay on stnd gearbox........wont they?. I would go 20g LOL. But being safe Td05/vf34. And out of the 2. People seem to favour the td05 from what i can tell.

My gearbox broke after a week of running a TD05. Be warned... if you use a TD05 to potential the torque hit is quite firm, and if it is driven hard I think you will be very unlikely to have the gearbox last on a UK non-STi.

would it go straight into a uk99 and what effect would it have on fuel economy and gearing 0-60 and top speed

STI5 Box....
will need a corresponding 4.444 differential.n (sti5 or P1)
will be a straight swap after that.
gearing is slightly shorter so you may miss the UK 5th gear at motorway speeds but this is more than made up for by all accounts across the lower gears grin factor.
fuel economy will be slightly less as your forcing a heap more power through and you cant generally have free energy without some give elsewhere.

Andy (ex 16g td05/FE owner and it was smiles all the way, fun factor 10)

Another happy FE-TD05 user

dont forget, if done properly it costs ££££s.....take a look at the various threads in the projects forum:

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...highlight=td05
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...highlight=td05
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...highlight=td05

Not just a case of bolting the turbo on.

As John says TD05s trash uk gearboxes rather happily if tuned to their potential.

My gearbox has lasted 6 weeks and around 2500miles so far (and counting) mapped to 1.5bar. Around 10 hard launches also. I expect it shall break and have budgeted for a new uprated one.

Bob
