Question ECU Questions

Im still very very new to this so please excuse my stupidity
I have a MY95 JDM WRX (auto) and have looked at my ECU to find out the following:

V5
22611 AB530
A18-000 RJ4 EY09

So i would like to upgrade the ECU as i believe it may give me better performance but also be better mapped for UK Fuel.
Could i get a different ECU that is literally 'plug and play' without and further work?
If so, would the Z4 ECU be suitable (seem to be a few for sale).
There seem to be quite a few for sale on EBAY from time to time but i have no idea if they are suitable for my car, is there a list anywhere of which ECU came from what model?
Cheers for any help
Paul

Simply, no the z4 will not be suitable as you have a td04 turbo and the z4 is mapped for a td05. Really you will struggle to find an upgrade other than to have a custom map made.

with that in mind, I should have a TD05 turbo on my JDM WRX MY'96? as my car has the Z4 ECU and runs fine

So it runs fine on yours Cornelius? Did you have it remapped or just plug it in and off you go?
Any other opinions please?
Cheers
