Default First mods - opinions please

Currently got a '96 wrx (standard except for STI adjustable struts and green panel filter), I'd like to upgrade the power a bit. I'm thinking of a Magnex full de-cat exhaust and Scoobyclinic remap. What do people think - a sensible start?
Cheers,
Doug

Thanks.
Anyone had any experience of Scoobyclinic remaps on the above version of impreza - power gains/fuel economy etc etc?

First thing you should do if you don't already have one is install a Knock link, might save you tears and a big engine rebuild bill later on! Personally, I'd remap it sooner rather than later for UK fuel, saves all the hassle with Octane booster. Scooby Clinic use Pat Herborne (Sp?) also known as pat the mapper. Do a search on here, they are very highly regarded indeed.

Best.

Thanks for the info.

So the exhaust is an obvious starting point and the remap seems worthwhile too (especially at around £400).

Anyone know how this will effect power, fuel economy and engine characteristics?
