Revs jump on putting in clutch

Revs jump on putting in clutch
Hi all,
Just joined the forums today
..... wonder if you can help me with an issue on my UK Turbo 2000 Impreza.
When I put the clutch down to change gear the revs on the rev counter jump by 200RPM. Regardless of whether I am nursing her along or fully lit. Finding this a bit irritating and more irritating that I cant find the cause.
I have only had this car three weeks - a previous owner has done a half assed job of de-catting her, fitting a K&N 57i induction kit and a VTA dumpvalve. 37K on the clock and she has a full history.
Any comments would be gratefully recieved.
