Injectors
Hi there,
since the topic is injectors thought I would ask a question....
I have a V2 sti with a Gizzmo chip and TurboSmart Boost Controller, TurboSmart BOV, Simota yellow sponge airfilter, no cats on exhaust, with a free flowing exhaust 2.5inches, standard grey injectors... what will the pro's / cons be of fitting a modified set of injectors tested at 850cc and a 255l/ walbro fuel pump to my car?
Many thanks
SanMan
ps. Suspect my engine hesitation is cause by the plugs... will be looking at replacing with Bosch F5DPOR.

If you set yourself a power/torque target, base the injector size on that - 850's will prolly be an overkill unless you are planning for 400+hp
Why not replace the plugs with NGK PFR7's instead of the Bosch F5DPOR's
Cheers

I've gone from 380's to 550's and I've had to drop the fuel pressure to 1.6 bar at idle to get a decent tickover, before a remap. When backed to 2 bar I was still running too rich on hot idle.
This is on a STi 1, I assume will will be getting a remap after fitting the injectors?

850s are too big for a 2.0 engine. Or more correctly the denso/sard 850s are not able to be controlled at low opening times very well. You will have to raise the idle speed to around 1200rpm or more to get it to idle properly, and it may be alittle rough at low loads.
A much better bet for most people on a 2.0 will be 550s, if you are going for over 400hp, then 740s will give headroom, and scope for further increases to 550hp. The 740s also retain good manners as they are a newer, better design of injector.
