Unhappy Stalling

Hi All

I had a problem a couple of weeks ago where the engine just would not start.
It would turn over but just not fire. This was solved by unplugging the Crank sensor and reconnecting. She started first time after that.

Now it has started stalling just the once. If you go on a shortish journey while the car is warming up and stop at a junction for a while the car ticks over lovely then without warning it just dies and stops. Always starts on the first turn off the key afterwards and that is generally that and it doesn't do it for the rest of the journey.

Any Ideas im stumped.

I have checked the MAF by disconecting when the car is running and the car just stops. And i have done a ECU reset with no errors.

you could try cleaning the idle control solenoid.
I know that on a my99 its on top of the centre of the plenum, unscrew it and use carb cleaner to remove all the black gunk stuck to it.
once clean refit.

my first thought was however MAF but you say youve eliminated that already.

The crank position could be faulty. They commonly fail when hot and recover when they have cooled down a bit. Take a look at http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=419586 for how to check the sensor.

So just checked and got a code 11 which is for the crank position sensor so looks like this is the issue.
