Default Cats - How many?

Evening all...

I've got a full decat on my classic but will need to MOT it near the end of the year but don't have the std system.

The previous owner was to send it to me (I know he had it etc etc - long story) but he won't speak to me, answer an PM's etc etc.

I need to know what I need to get for it to pass the MOT and what the 'normal' exhaust is like etc.

Either an ebay job, classified purchase off here or maybe even a kind person will 'lend' me a cat or two...lol.

What do I need gents?

A centre section will do it; assuming you have a saloon as the 'Wagon has a resonator only in the centre. You might consider a high flow 'sports' cat for the centre so you can be both legal and quick.

If your car is an import it mightnt need a cat at all; it depends what it says on the V5: just 'Impreza' is ideal as the testers reference requires an exact model.

It is a saloon, UK model.....

So if i just get hold of a centre section, including the cat, all will be well....

How many seperate sections is the scooby exhaust made up of?

I have a MY95 WRX, swapped the centre section back on for MOT and failed - I would do both. As it turned out I didn't need any as pre Sep 95 import not listed.

Thats what I thought. The centre cat alone is not enough, so get yourself a downpipe cat (all the same from 92 -2001) off ebay for around £50. Takes about 2 hours to fit yourself.

sorry for sounding thick...but if my car has a full decat then does that mean that I need a full std exhaust system?

There are a few on ebay that I've got my eye on at the moment...

Would that be the easier option in terms of fitment of you don't have to split it into to many parts?

(Mine) MY97 STi3 wagon, std has 1 cat in down pipe and resonator in centre. Passed MOT no probs with just std. cat centre in otherwise full de-cat ssystem with stainless headers.

I don't need a full OE system
