Question rpm over 7000

Just had a race today against a Seat ibiza cupra(tuned), and I was a bit dissapointed. Now I have an MY02 standard with a lot of weight so I know it is not the fastest but still.
Oh, I did win the race, but I pressrd the max out of my Soooby, in fact I didn't notice and I have changed 1 gear at 7300 rpm!!
So I was wondering how bad was that ?! I mean I know I should never be above 7000 right ? I was just not careful enough

This just convinces me more: I do need to get the PPP, even if it is soooo expensive.

Maci,

As your MY02 will shortly be out of it's warrenty period, I would have thought that there are better options available to you for the cost of the PPP.

Full Decat, headers, filter and Tek3 will cost about the same as PPP but will offer soooo much more in the way of power.

Cheers

Martin

ditto what he said......and yeah, bouncing off the limiter is baaaaaaaaad.

I actually had my limiter reset to 6750 as an extra safety feature when i had my car mapped.

Didn't you hit fuel / rev cut when you reached the rev limit? Or is it an STi which revs to 8000 ish ??

Agree with the above, go your own route rather than over priced PPP.

My MY03 hits the limiter around the 7200 / 7300 mark.
Not good when you are in overtake mode and are too busy looking at the road, then get hit in the chest when the limiter kicks in, Lolz0rs to that f00ka!

It's a standard wrx. I didn't hit any limiter, at least I didn't feel anything, guess I was jut on the edge. I think I have to change a bit my driving skills(which won't be that easy after 10+ years) to change gears at a bit lower rpm, but be very fast with the change

I see that you all recomend the non-ppp way, but I was just wondering about retail value of my car; cause I think with the ppp it will have better than with decat ++. Or am I wrong ?

Btw: what is tek3 ?

the rev limitter in a standard car is 7300, so you were lucky if you didnt hit it

tek3 is a custom engine map that is designed to work with the modifications that YOU have made on your car.....typically removing one or more cats, uprating the air filter etc....this can give VERY healthy gains that go over and above the level of the PPP map.

I thought it was 7400rpm limit. In standard form, no point going much above 6000 anyway. With exhaust/ECUTEK, perhaps 6800-7000 is as far as you'll benefit from going.
