Lightbulb 2.2 k resistor to replace egt on bugeye

my egt sensor through up a cel a year ago ( can't remeber which one, came up after fitting headers so thought it was fried)

I replaced the sensor with a 2.2k resistor and its sorted it out fine

now the car has had some work done and the garage has removed the resistor saying that when I get the car remapped again BR will be able to remove the cel with the software

I wasn't sure about this but thought what the heck and put the phone down, I wasnt going to travel 70 miles to pick up the resistor

now if BR can't remove this cel with the map can you still get those nice 2.2k resistors that scoobysport used to sell, they are square, fit the connector well and look way better than a std one ....

any help welcome

cheers

Most remaps can disable the CEL generated from the EGT probe and rear 02 sensor.

EcuTeK cannot be used to map out this CEL which from memory is PO546 (or similar)....I have this problem on my car and Bob Rawle was quite clear about this and he mapped the car with the CEL (which he cleared for me). I'll dig out his e-mail later but AFAIK the only way to get rid of the CEL is to fit the EGT sensor or use the resistor fix.

Waht EcuTeK can do is raise the threshold of the EGT's that the ECU will see as dangerous.

Hope this makes sense

Get a 4p resistor from Maplins, and then put it in some nice multicoloured heatshrink tubing or something!

Shaun - my memory coincides with yours, I think they're 0545, 0546 (EGT reading high or low), or one that's in the 1xxx range that I can't remember (for EGT sensor knackered). IIRC a couple of months ago, Andy F posted a list of every fault code going on some post or another.

agree maplins will do the trick... there's one by merry hill. as above I do believe that mapping can remove the CEL What you getting done to need an extra remap?

Fizz

AFAIK EcuTek can't map out a missing or knackered EGT sensor........... I asked Bob Rawle to do it a couple of weeks ago and it can't be done at the Moment

Hades.........Thanks for the correct code PO 546

EcuTek can Map out the Missing Cat P0420 code (cat below efficiency LOL) ..just gotta get the car throught the MOT in July
