Hi all.

Just bought a Import 1996 N reg impreza WRX saloon and im having a few little problems which are worrying me .

Firstly the tank that looks like some form of expansion tank for water is leaking out of the small pipe on the top, where and how much is one of these?

Also when driving for a few mins, the check engine light comes on, and the car idles rough, and looses power, sometimes it goes out and all and it drives ok, but it keeps returning .

Im not sure what fuel is in the car, I bought the car from auction, and im not sure but when underload and that light is on, it sounds like it may be det, but im not 100% sure, and im too scared to take it to a garage as I dont want to cause any damage.

Last thing, the speedometer doesnt work.


Any help will be really appreciated.

speedo not working will give you check engine light as there is no roadspeed signal for the ecu. sort that out and you may well find the end of your troubles.

So if the ECU logs any fault, inc speedo, it puts it in limp mode?
