bad mpg??
although i cant give an exact number, i fill up with optimax at £42 (.84 litre) and on a tank full i am getting about 220 miles, does this sound about right, not a mathematic but i make that about 11 gallons so 20 mpg.
seems a little low as subaru says i should be able to scrape 25.
however as mentioned in another post i am getting petrol smell, and no real turbo boost, etc, so wanted to know what a maf is for and where it is, solenoid and where (as read to clean it) and lamba sensor and what its for.

I've noticed my car dramatically loosing it's fuel economy. When I first bought the car back in 99 I would easily get around 350 miles just commuting about 20-miles per day.
I fitted a decat and that dropped it around 50-miles. Now, even if I pootle along the motorway @ 70mph I'm lucky to see 250 out a full tank.
MAF should only come into things under load where it measures air-flow and adjusts fuelling accordingly - http://www.stefanostadal.homedns.org...lacing_the_maf
Lambda (aka O2 or Oxygen) sensor is used on cruising for economy. Depending on the car the sensor could be in the manifold or in the downpipe (later cars).
Solenoid would be the "Boost Solenoid". I *think* that's in front of the front suspension strut in the engine bay.

If its of any use I have noticed the exact same thing with mine I put it down to the colder weather cos with the increased MPG is extra oomph, better response !! I was running a full decat and now have the car re-catted (MY00 PPP). Its not much better either war TBH and I get anything from 200 - 250MPG depending on how I drive and whether its Motorway cruising etc. My MAF and O2 are fine

Just cleaned the solenoid out and made no difference.... reset ECU too and no CEL Alarms.. running smoother tho...
Someone on Ebay selling these ???
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWA:IT
He's not disclosing the product, but sounds like he's been round the houses with problems like this and changed everything. A cheap dealer part that he's charging 50 quid for. Tempting ! But 50 quid up the wall on a maybe is not ideal either...

With that in mind, if there are enough of people suffering from these symptoms, anyone fancy splitting one ? Share the costs and disclose part no# if successful ? By the sounds of things, it's not an expensive component, and cant blame the bloke for trying to get some money back I suppose.... sods law it's a fivers worth of part !

em, let me think ...... no.
I'm not wasting £50 (or any small part of £50) to someone on eBay not telling me what cr@p he's selling. I don't care if it's split between other gullible eejits, it still stinks of a major con to me.

If mine did 100 miles out a tank it would cost me £100 per week just to drive to/from work @ 60mph nose-to-tail in traffic. I'm no idiot and that doesn't strike me as being a good way of enjoying my £100.
The point is I had good economy (when I needed it) and now I don't. I'd like to know why?
The fuel economy & Impreza debate has been done to death already.

Only had mine 2 years, and economy's been the same for me... costs me a tank a week, and that's a small price to pay for the pleasure
I'm just reluctant to spend 50 quid, even more reluctant to blow god knows how much on every possible part... I've mailed one of the blokes that's bought one to see if its sorted the problems out...
Personally, to get another .5 bar out of mine would be like buying a new motor..
