Default octane booster

hello just picked up my sti 2 import and was wondering what the score is with the octane level i have had pulsar a skyline gtr an evo and now an sti 2 but i have always just used optimax in all of them .

Do i need to run octane booster on the sti2 or not ?

i have just put some in it. It is surpose to put the octane level up about 7- 14 points. Is it sfe to run higher octane then it is surposed to run on?

Cheers jamie

The JDM STi's are designed to run 100-102 ron fuel, so running octane booster is recommended.
You have a choice of millers octane plus, NF, Wynns etc, i use millers personally as its easy to get hold of and pretty cheap to boot.

Millers about £3.00 a bottle. Tank of optimax & millers is a must have IMO.

STI 2 should hold it's own on the twisties against most cars, not sure about striaght line with say a Skyline GTR but should do the buisness.

I personally use millers cvl or millers turbo. More expensive than the millers octane plus but results in a higher octane rating closer to jap spec fuel (especially if u use the millers turbo stuff)

the only downside is the cost, the millers turbo bottle is about £7 (Combined with optimax gets fuel up to 102) but it only treats 20litres. So u would be looking at 2 bottles for a tank, so ie £14 extra.. millers cvl is about 5.50 a bottle but again treats 20lt...

suppose it depends on if u use the car daily.. i know i dont use my sti every day so i dont mind spending the cash as i want to avoid det.

I preffer the Silkolene gear... that smell... ahhhhh, but like you say could get expensive... £15 + £40 optimax.. smiles per miles.

I used the millers for day to day use - considering how little time toy will spend on boost .. nose to tail in traffic... I can see the advantage of the better quality additives if your are on the RR, track day or a spirited Sunday morning tho...

Try Xtreme Scoobies. Also ASPerformance.

NF Race - 1 bottle about £14 but treats 5 - 6 tanks fulls ( 50l or 60 l tank! ) to get 1 ish octane increase, pro rata for more NF added ( 1 bottle into 60l tank = +6 octane!!)
