Question How many wires on our Lambda Sensors?

A shop on Ebay is selling Lambda sensors for around £20.00. BUT, there are 4 differnet types, 1 wire, 2 wire, 3 wire, 4 wire! Which one does my 99UK Scoob have???

Pretty sure standard narrow band impreza is a 4 wire.

I don't think the number of wires isenough to define which sensor will work as the standard one does.

If you can find a bosch LSM11, I know that will work and has some degree of temperature compensation built in.

3 wires is standard.
But 4 wire can be fitted, the 4th wire is just ground which can be run to a chassis ground or the battery negative connection.

The standard 3 wire lambda earths through the downpipe.

See here for good prices : http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/lambda_sensors.php

So this plugged straight in to the existing loom connector ????

Interesting as I know an MY94 has a different conector to an MY00, although you can extract the pins from one connector and re-insert them in the other

My mistake on thr 3/4 wire thing as I have always had lsm11s as the lambda sensor was the first thing to let go in my 96 wrx (in the headers not the downpipe). The LSM11 is a 4 wire and I am guessing the extra ground was just joined in for convenience fooling me into thinking that 4 wire was standard.

Oh well.

ditch it anyway and get yourself a decent 5 wire wideband. You can use a lambda boy to alter the output to trick the ecu into running a wideband on closed loop. Widebands have far better temperature compensation and their ouput is far more indicative of oxygen content!
