10W-40 fully synthetic would be better IMHO or even 15-50 during the summer.

Fully synthetic is better quality but is more expensive. It's up to you really but I would say that fully synthetic would be the better option.

Cheers

Most manufacturers use what they can get at the best price in bulk at the time. Check the spec and post it on here OILMAN will I'm sure be able to enlighten you. IIRC Ford favoured Duckhams oils......

The 15w-40 is most likely to be a hydrocracked mineral oil as most oils of that grade are, but I would need proper tech data to be sure.

Its not the ideal grade for your car as it will not provide great cold start protection, 5w-40 would be a better choice.

Cheers

Simon.

Can recommend getting oil from Opie Oils based in Redruth, Cornwall. Fuchs Silkolene 5W40 Fully Synthetic in 5 litres available - they will also mail out at small extra cost. I don't work for them etc. but my dealer used the oil I purchased from Opie Oils (Silkolene 5W40). A good supplier to consider and I will be buying again in future if the prices are still competitive - as it's not easy to buy decent oils at fair prices from most retail outlets - website: opieoils.co.uk

I only ever use chipfat cos its thicker and helps protect my engine more. I think you should all do the same.. these oil companies are just ripping you off with their fancy numbers and letters that mean nothing.
