Does any one know how i can find out how if at all my subaru that i have just imported from japan differs from an other Sti 2? It is a 1995 Sti 2 555 special edition but am unable to determine why it is a special edition presume it is just a commemerative model for the wrc win by colin mcrae that year.

Lots of info on this site about the 555 edition. I have the drivetrain of one in my MY00 coupe that was imported into japan after a smash.

Yes it was an edition Subaru made to celebrate their win.

Some came with stickers, some didnt, most have had them removed by now too.

Just looking through ken's website, it suggests a fuel tank size of 60 litres.

Mine definitely doesnt have that (didnt think it was even 50) seen a post from someone there on the guestboard suggesting it's 45- would be closer to the correct size for it I think.

Not sure whether the gear ratio's are also closer together than a normal v2 sti or not, wouldnt be suprised if they are.

It's also been suggested on another website (which I cant find :/ )they came with a front limited slip diff as well, but I've not had mine out to confirm it or otherwise (only thing I do know is I've never yet got mine to spin its wheels).

 

Mine is a 4.11 and does not come with a front lsd I'm afraid - looking to fix that though...

On the site they suggest it ia a 3.9 final ratio but being at 3K rpm when going 100 km/h makes me think 3.9 is too long of a ratio.

There is suppose to be an interior badge of sorts but best to go by the code
