Thumbs up PROBLEMS STARTING AFTER REBUILD

A freind of mine has got a UK MY96 impreza, had front end smash, been fixed and the engine has been out and had total rebuild. Everything has been put back together but wont start, there is no spark. Diagnostic computer has been hooked up but when ignition is turned on it switches computer off.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Check crank sensor connected. May have been left off ready for oil priming etc.

Check the small earth wire conected on to the inlet manifold near the wash bottle. I forgot to reconnect this and the ECU kept cutting out and made a clicking noise like when the battery is flat.
