I am about to buy the above (a funky bit of kit!!!). The fitting is dead easy, only the OBDII port and a power supply. The power supply is the bit I am asking about. I have a MY05 so the *** lighter is under a cover. I dont want the cover open all the time, so.....Can I get power from the back of the *** lighter and pull it out to the side? If so how? I am really nervous about removing the plastic trim (and breaking it). So a real idiots guide or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about dismantling trim, as I have a Classic sti, but you could just take the power from the wires connecting to the *** lighter.

Are they directly behind the cover? I cannot see any exposed screws to be able to remove the cover?

 

from memory, on my classic, you have to pull the trim off around the gear stick (pull up from where gaiter cover attaches, and it clicks up), and then remove the trim up the centre of the dash (this includes the ciggy lighter holder - held in place by spring clips). As mentioned though, I have not got a new age, so dont take the above as gospel.
