Default lack of power advice please

hi all,
i have a legacy turbo and it is standard other than a de cat and induction kit.it is boosting to half a bar but doesn't accelerate very well its ok in first and second but after that it has to be revved hard for it to pick up.it boosts to .5bar in every gear but like i say acceleration is poor and top speed is 80mph i get to this speed and it just doesn't pick up anymore even if my foot is hard on the throttle and the boost gauge is showing .5bar.
any ideas on what is wrong please and is .5bar correct boost or should it be more or less.
to give you an idea of how bad things are i was doing 35-40mph on a flat road in 3rd gear a peugeot 205trio pulled out i floored it and he overtook me,very imbarrasing.

0.5 bar is too low. Believe they are 0.9 bar peak.

Sound like the ECU has gone into safety mode for some reason.

Could be a number of things including a failed MAF sensor, or a hose popped off etc.

What year is it?

hi it is a 91 salloon.
it is also using a lot of fuel (even more than usual).
could this indicate a maf failure.

More likely a lambda failure. MAF's fail lean and are used to control fuelling on boos so that would mean better MPG generally (on boost)

Not sure if the legacy has a CEL (check engine light) or what diagnostics you can do on it?
