Default Standard dump valve problem

I've just been looking at how easy it would be to replace my standard dump valve (MY97).

But when I was investigating, I noticed the nipple that the small pipe is connected to was broken and hanging off, and was leaking air everywhere.

what is this pipe for? I noticed that it appeared to be sucking away from the dump valve?

Will I be risking the health of my engine by driving the car?

PS anyone got a MY97 dump valve for sale (standard or non-standard)?

Cheers,

Graham

Yes.. that is the vacuum line.. you will be running rich with it disconnected.

You can block the pipe (with a bolt) so that the air is not sucked in and the car will run fine but will dump less pressure with no vac line connected and so might damage the turbo depending on the turbo you have fitted.

try www.hdcsubaru.com for a replacement standard one.

Or go for the bling pppppsssttttttt lol you wanted now.

Ok, so as long as I block up the pipe and drive off boost, I should be ok until I can get a replacement.

Do I also need to block the hole on the DV??

Thanks.

No need to block the hole on the dump valve.

I think you will have a TD04 as it is a 97 and it should be fine with no dumping of the pressure but driving off boost might be wise.

lean on idle as it will suck in the air but the ecu will compensate and run rich to get the idle stable.. on boost the air will be leaking and it will run rich.
