Default Any major differences between V5 and V6?

Are there any major differences in terms of engine/suspension/transmission between the STiV5 and V6
The V4 I had before were renowned for piston slap. Was there any major probs associated with the V5 or V6?
Many thanks,Deep

The MAF is a common weak point, if still original - get it swapped with (or check it is) a new 'green spot' item.

v5/v6 and P1 can suffer from oil starvation/main bearing failures. My v6 wagon had this at 40k resulting in an expensive bottom end rebuild. Believe it is caused by the original oil pump not being able to cope.

If you are buying one please bear this in mind..it is hearbreaking and frustrating when it happens.

Yes,remember the threads now. Lots of MAF failures.
Daveo, did a different or modified pump have to be fitted? Vaguely remember threads regarding a Robin Clarke Motorsprt modified pump being talked about.
Thanks, Deeep.

When I contacted the dealer who I bought the car from, David Hendry cars, shortly after my engine went bang, he waffled along the lines that the oil pump problem on v5/6 and p1's was well known, and that fitting an uprated oil pump would solve the problem.

Didn't really explain why my engine went bang though (allegedly it had been fitted with an uprated pump) and as the warranty had ran out he wasn't interested either.

Was very dissapointed at the time (last May) as the car had only done 40k and had been serviced properly etc.

Just be careful mate, that's my advice.

Thanks Dave. Funnily enough I bought my old STi4 from David Hendry. Which make/model of pump did you fit when the engine was rebuilt?

Thanks, Deeep.

I think most people use the Roger Clarke uprated oil pumps the sell for about 150 quid IIRC
