Unichip type A and B

What's the difference between a type A and type B Unichip?
Which Unichip type is suitable for what model year UK/Euro
Spec Impreza Turbo?

Power Station told me type A for a Scoob, not sure if this is all MY's but mine is a 98. I had a type B knocking around from my Fiat 20VT Coupe and they said this was no use on the Scoob.
