Thumbs down junking the 'orrible spoilers

Im sick of the sight of the spoiler on my car.
Im almost to the point of just grinding it off!
I had a mooch about in the boot and located two of the four bolts easily enough, where are the other two located?
MY99 for reference

what shall I use to blank the holes when finished?
(blu tac?)

Andy,

Take off the rubber stops and you will see the other 2 bolts.

I ran without a spoiler for a little while and the back end of the car felt unstable at speed. You could always fit a MY97/98 one which is nice and low and should be very cheap.

Dave.

Andy, there are also two plastic clips twoards the front of the spoiler, so even when all nuts are off, it won't just 'fall off'
98 spoiler uses all the same holes I believe!

Make sure you don't loose the nuts when you take the spoiler off!

I filled the 5 holes (4 bolts + hole for the brake light) with some trim screws.....and some blu-tack to make sure they were watertight!

I've run my car twice for some time without the rear spoiler - couldn't really notice any difference when driving (93 WRX with low level spoiler).

One other thing to watch for.....don't try using the remote to open the boot! I thought it was going to spring through the rear screen!!

Looks quite stylish without the spoiler

Well I could say that the spoiler does only help help at high speed, but I've only been to 70mph and wouldn't have a clue what a scoob is like at 130mph

I went the other way with my MY99 and fitted a bi-plane rear spoiler to it, now that thing welded the rear of the car to the road at speed. Killed fuel consumption though

Dave.
