Slightly peeved off....MY00 rusting already!
I went to put my new carbon fibre slam panel on this weekend.
Got the bits ready, socket set etc.
Started to undo one of the top radiator bolts and the top sheared off!
How? Because the bloomin thing had started to rust!
I had to realign one of my sidelights slightly as well, so took it out and noticed that a bar/panel below the headlight and slightly protruding behind the sidelight was also starting to rust!
Now whats going on here, the car is barely 4yrs old and its started already!

Once a car gets to 3/4 yrs I'm careful with fasteners. If they don't crack undone easily get the WD40/Plusgas or similar out.
Also I've found this age once you start taking bits off and seeing nooks and crannies you find rusting, often only surface. BUT our 5 yrs. old Micra has HOLES in front crossmember. Waiting on warranty claim.
If you're concerned and mandatory body retreatments have been done, go see dealer.

Only bodywork is covered so if your paint started to crack or bubble due to poor workmanship then it'll be a warranty job. Components aren't covered.
This is my view on the subject.

Generally corrosion warranty only covers rust from within damaging outer surfaces. If rust develops from a stone chip this is not covered. Just wrap your car in cotton wool and of course a layer of porous non corrosive cotton covered in a waterproof outer permeable layer of free breathing outer fabric. Always drive in the dry at 25 to 30 mph to be fully covered..............
