Default MY01 Immobiliser Problem

I have recently sold my low mileage UK MY01. The purchaser phoned me this afternoon to say the car was immobilised and would not start. I told him to find the pin for the immobiliser and key it in. He was unable to identify which number to use. As I remember there was a sealed plastic bag with some small silver labels in it and I assumed these contained the code. However, the guy says the labels have loads of numbers on them and he cant see which is the pin. He eventually called the RAC who got the car going after 3 hours by pressing a reset button on the back of the Alarm (under the dash he said)? The RAC guy has recommeded getting the Immobilser re-coded but that sound like rubbish to me. The guy has a blue tooth phone but says it was not enabled and also said there were no mobile masts in the area.

Has anyone here any advice on ths problem please as I feel bad about selling a £10k car that does not start.

Thanks

i cant remember ever seeing a button on alarm to reset it??? i would recommend getting some new fobs just in case and getting the dealer to show him the correct pin number.

My pin is also on a silver sticker - but its stuck to the alarm installation sheet. This also confirms the ECU number.
