Would help if supplied your cars model/year. Oh, and the search facility is handy

Mine is above #3 cylinder (MY99 UK). I was told fitting to sump could give inaccurate reading as it's cooled by airflow. #3 sees the hottest temperatures.

They can also be fitted above no3 cylinder. The temps there are hotter so you need remember that if you are comparing with someone else.

sonic if you look where the oil pressure switch is fitted then look straight back in that line you will see a allen socket head bung this is where most people fit them. but u need an adaptor from scoobymania or main dealers.

Just fitted mine. What an absolute **** of a job!!
I cut a piece off an 8mm Allen key, fitted into a 5/16's socket bit, and used the long extender to undo the Plug.

A magnet was then needed to retrieve the plug, but the washer is ally so wouldn't pick that up (abit of wire with a hook is perfect for this!)

To fit the adapter, I first fitted the sender from the Defi kit to it, then removed the Throttle Body from the Inlet manifold (No Top Mount Intercooler on my car) to get a little more room! Fitted the adapter, taking care not to twist the wires up on the sender.

Horrible, fiddly job to do.

For the sake of struggling i felt it was much easier to remove the intercooler and the dump valve assy and associated pipes to gain better access to the bung located over the number three cylinder. Prior to removing the original bung it's well worth taking a few moments degressing the area before you fit the new adaptor and sender unit. I used a bit of kerosene for this. Remember to use a few wraps of PTFE tape on the threads of the new adapter and sender prior to assembly. This is one area you won't to visit again should it leak.
As for tooling, a nice long 3/8 drive x 12" extension and a 8mm hex x 3/8 drive socket coupled with a good knuckle bar or wrench should see you right for removing what can be a very tight bung.

ROKAY know what you mean.
fitted new oil pressure sender , t piece and switch recently.
must have stripped alternator etc off about 14 ( no joke 14)
times till i got weeping of oil sorted!

p.s rang dealer yesterday and they dont know if part is an adaptor or not.
is this a bung code (drill and tap yourself)
or is it an adaptor , and if so what are the threads?

Silver Sonic,

sourced my sender unit adapter M18 1.5 to 1/8 NPT part number LMA067
from Le Mans Motorsport LTD
No drilling or taping involved at all. Your find it's a taper thread, however i still strongly advise to use three or four wraps of PTFE tape.

Le Mans Motorsport here

Great service from these people next day delivery.

I've got a picture for everything

Direct Link . Cost about £4.

Just check your senders thread if it's not 1/8 NPT. Le Mans will supply anything you need though.
