Question Chipping a 1997 Subaru

Can you chip a 1997 Subaru ( u k ) as i have had an exhaust fitted and now it is overboosting , is there a chip that will cope with the extra boost .
Or is a dawes device a good way forward ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????

Now then.

I believe the MY 97 and 98 cars have a bitch of an ECU to remap as they dont accept a piggyback chip like the older versions. I would simply fit a dawes device to cure the problem, I did with mine and its spot on now.

Speak to Jamie at www.j-w-racing.co.uk and he will sort you out for £35 I think.

97 - 98 can take a piggyback board, but its not that easy, dawes should help stop the spiking, a dawes is not a normal bleed valve.. it has a spring and ballbearing.

You may be able to correct the overboosting with a simple change of restrictor in the boost control plumbing, though chances are fitting a dawes will be a lot less mucking about
