Default boost help needed!

hi all, a freind of mine has got a 93 jap wrx with hks exhaust, filter, and blow off valve. hes not had it long and did not know much about them when he got it. problem is he took me out in it the other day and i noticed that the boost gauge is only reaching .5 bar. he thought it was ok but i told him that standard it should be running at .8-.9 bar. any ideas if this is a problem or not.
many thanks.

.5 bar is around the right pressure if the ECU has gone into limp home mode. This is when the ECU has freaked out for some reason and shut the boost down to prevent engine damage.
However when my car went into limp home mode it reset back to normal after stopping restarting.
I suspect its not this however but incase I would perform an ECU reset as the first thing you try.
Other things.. Has it got a Dawes type boost controller (If so it will be attached to the wastegate) and may need adjusting.
Do you have any splits holes in the turbo pipework.. might be a good idea to check.

Cheers

Look HERE for ECU diagnostics - may give a fault code showing the reason it went into limp home mode. Also gives instructions on how to reset ECU

Cheers
