Question Suspension & DET problems??

have taken delivery of a 2002 sti uk last week. Now and again theres a knocking/Thudding from the rear when going over minimal bumps or even an uneven road surface. When moving slowly in traffic once i have stopped it feels like the rear offside strut is sticking in the slightly up position. I just need to sit still for a while and the body drops down very slightly. The other thing that happens is occasonally when pulling away at junctions when i havent fully stoped i feel the suspension drop down. Its definatly not the brakes sticking as i've had the pads out and done a full clean and lube to brakes, pistons etc. It feels like it maybe a loose top mounting on the strut.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

I'm going to send it in under warranty to be looked at and wondred if this was a common problem.

2nd potential problen is ive fittted a knocklink as a removed it from my last car i decided it was useless sitting in the garage and guess what over 6000rpm and now and again when giving it some at lower revs red light on the knocklink as far as i know it should be standard no ppp etc.

Do i say something to the dealer? or just keep quit til maybe it pops hopfully before the waranty runs out.

Other than these minor details the car is great and like my last scoob its a great drive

The rear suspension knock has been an issue on sti's, don't know what chassis numbers or dates. I read that replacing both stuts under warrentee at the back seems to fix it.
I've got a Sept 03 sti and never had any suspension knocks since new, but many have.

The knocklink, I have no idea cos I don't have one. But you could try another fuel-I use optimax-and see what happens, you could have a bad tank of fuel.

There should be no red light on KL, but a flash (indicating a det spike) will not do any damage. Subaru engine knock sensor should cause ecu to retard timing when picking up det below 6000 rpm. Above 6000 rpm the signal is ignored by ecu and therefore det is not corrected.

I get det spikes on my non-standard 02Sti mainly around 5000 rpm and always below 6000 rpm, but have decided to get Bob Rawle to remap it for piece of mind.
