Default Sensor Probs

Hi ppl,
While driving along the road earlier today in my 92 WRX my engine check light came on. After getting home and doing the fault check's it came up with the code for the vehicle speed sensor 2 (not to sure about the number) Has anyone else had this sort of fault? What can I do to fix it, is it possible to take the sensor out and clean it etc or am I best just getting a whole new sensor?

Keith.

p.s where is the sensor actually located?

Really not sure, try posting on www.22b.com

Its likely to be from the back of the dash into the gearbox, and thats where the convertor is. Imagine the sensor is mounted on the gearbox somewhere?

Yours should have a speedo cable and the convertor will be in line, mine is near the bulkhead in the engine bay.
Did the speedo stop working at the same time as the CEL light came on?..have you had a clutch or down pipe replacement recently? because it may or been disturbered when the work was done.
Failing that you will have to have the back of the clock binnacle checked out.

Yeah my clutch was replaces a couple of months ago and I dont think the speedo cable has been routed right as its very short almost impossible to plug into the back of the dash. I has stoped working a couple of time's but I manage to get it back in but the light somtimes still comes on even if the speedo is working.
