Yep, i've seen one on a 99 STI. Don't know what the crack is but I wouldn't advise you mess about with an airbag wheel unless you really know what you're doing.
use bits off your old wheel to get it to fit and the horn to work.
the airbag is just 2 wires and you've either got a 50/50 chance of getting it right or it doesn't matter which way round they connect.
Apparently the wires under the dash of an MY00 are both black, so that to me means it doesn't matter. At the end of the day all it's doing is setting off a pirotecnic charge so it shouldn't matter which way round they are connected.
there is a guy on here who has done it and he told me the above and that he made sure he was well away from the airbag when the ignition was switched on.
the other alternative is to leave the airbag disconnected and put a resistor accross the connector to extinguish the light. I think this is a 3 ohm resisto but would need to check onanother forum.
