Default Touch up paints

When touching up stone chips, no matter how fine a brush/stick I use the paint sits as a blob and is raised above the paintwork. How do I smooth it down to the right level, is there a product I can buy to do this?
I bought some for girlfriend's Seat Ibiza (imperial blue) from halfords and it is a crap match!
So I tried some on my scoob (my00 deep mica blue) and it was a good match, much better than the touch up paint I bought off subaru!

when you put the blob of paint into the chip use the side of a matchstick to level it out before it sets, use T-Cut afterwards when it's set completely and polish on top
