Lightbulb K&N57i OR Panel Filter ?

I Am considering fitting a k & n 57i induction kit,But have been told that i could just drop in a k&n panel filter which would work just as well without the noise ??
Maf Probs may occur ??
Any thoughts of whats the best to use,Cars a uk my 98 full decat & samco hoses and soon to be a filter or induction kit ?? That should be a good start Who knows what next ?
Thoughts appreciated
Thanks Guys

Go for the panel filter - I'd also remove the resonance chamber from the inner wing...

you don't need an induction kit for the power you're producing - and you're better off with the panel, as the flow (air swirl etc, rather than amount) will be far closer to the original (which the ECU is expecting) than an induction kit will produce.

Next would be a knocklink, boost gauge and Air/Fuel meter of some type - then some kind of boost increase (e.g. dawes device / remap)... (The meters are 'supporting' mods, to make sure of 'safe' increases!)

Oh - and as a freebie, you could 'tilt kit' the intercooler...

With standard turbo and I/C, I was running 281bhp after these mods on my 98 UK.

Hope this helps,

Mark

I echo Mark's comments - I originally had the 57i kit but got fed up with the noise. I think for anything under 300 brake a 'free flow' panel filter does the job nicely, without all the 'orrible dyson™ noises!
