Default Missing o2 sensor!

Can anyone tell me if removing the o2 sensor off my 1995 WRX will do the car any damage?

Pretty sure when the exhaust was changed for a full apexi system from turbo back, this was left dangling on the existing exhaust or would this be the lambda sensor?

I have noticed that the car is only doing about 23mpg and a mate of mine was teling me that if this was missing it could be the problem?

Probably running rich as....best get it checked out to see if O2 is switching as it should do; if not grab a new one....

... or fit a ScoobyECU chip set to run 'open loop' i.e. not using the lambda sensor. That's how mine's set.

The O2 sensor in your car is in the headers, near the oil filter. The sensor dangling near the rear of the turbo in the temperature sensor for the cat. It does not matter is this is not plugged in.

23 MPG is about normal
