Question Adding Air Con

I contacted my local dealer now that I can afford to add on the option of air con to my Impreza. He told me that as the car is one of the first Imprezas (UK car, TD05) that the dealer retro fit option air con is no longer available and suggested I bought one of his newer cars! Don't think I'll bother with that so does anyone know a place that can add air con to the car and how much it will cost?

Speak to Grade A Subaru, who I think can supply a complete aircon kit. They state is for MY97 - 00, £390 plus VAT. Not sure if yours is earlier but they still might be worth a call.

If you search the forums there are people who have done a complete aircon install without too much trouble, but then I don't know how mechnically-minded you are.

Thanks for that, unfortunately I know I haven't the ability to fit it. Mine is a 95 car too.Perhaps though someone like scoobyclinic might do air con installs? Anyone know?

I bought a new Subaru aircon kit from Midland Impreza (now gone out of business) a year ago. After some of the kit went missing in transit (dodgy courier) Midland helpfully replaced the missing parts. Cost £480 all in, took me 1.5 days to fit to my MY98, but then I was not rushing and a few bolts had rusted solid and needed drilling out. Cost £75 to get gassed and oiled, so £555 all in plus my labour.

At the time main dealers were quoting £1000 all in to fit a kit supplied by a company called Coolair up North somewhere, would take the dealer 4 to 5 hours to fit. Suggest you ring a couple of other dealers and you may find one that still does it for around the £1000 mark if that price is not too much for you.
