New Age STI Rack into a Classic
Hi,
I remember someone saying it's possible to do this by fitting Legacy Track Rod ends or a Legacy Universal Joint onto the column.
Has anyone done this or can anyone shed any light on it?
Thanks
dave

I've done it on my 2nd gen Legacy.
Had to Frankenstein the UJs - top UJ off the original welded to the bottom UJ off a new-age. Track rod ends were ok just had to bevel the ends of the track-rods a bit. The pipes on the end of the steering rack hoses need to be bent to fit, which is very fiddly with the engine in place. The big problem though is that the new-age rack has 10mm less throw so the lock is reduced - bugger.
It is better (more feel less twirling) cross-country and on track but the reduced lock can be annoying when parking.
