Default check engine?

ok someone showed me what to do for the check engine thing and it came up 45 then 31 can anyone help? i have just bought the car and had it rolling road tested and its only got 170bhp,its a 95 wrx from japan with a hks exhaust and its running 0.8 bar boost,i only use shell optimax in the car,but i know the car had a new engine 600 miles ago. can anyone help?!!! cheers scott

45 - is Map Sensor/Pressure Exchange Solenoid.
31 - is Throttle Position Sensor.

If you look HERE there is a list of the Error codes

cool cheers man,what about the boost is this ok? someone suggested it might be to low for my car or would problems 31 and 45 be enough to drop around 80/90 bhp?

Do an ECU reset,these might be "Historical" codes When resetting the ECU if the MAP and TPS is guffed then it will flash a fault code at you during the reset

If the TPS is guffed then the ECU wont be seeing a maximum throttle input hence it wont produce maximum power Also the MAP sensor wont be giving accurate signals back to the ECU another contributer to not reaching maximum power Fix both these problems,reset the ECU and retry it at the RR you should see a figure of circa 200bhp at the wheels which would equate to roughly 260bhp at the flywheel

cool cheers,yeah the rr was at the flywheel,one more question,how do i reset the ecu?!!!!

Do a search on "ECU Reset" and all will be revealed
