Default engine question

got a chance to buy a subaru impreza wrx 1998 type R engine but its got a silver inlet manifold i ask the question this is wot he came up with is this right

question:
"are u sure its a type r engin cause i thought that they have a red inlet manifold ?"

answer:
hi that is what i thought but i am told that only sti engines have a red inlet and the type r engine is not built by sti so it runs the standard manifold.

The WRX Sti Type R will have the red manifold.
WRX Type R standard.

Check the model code HERE

Also if it's an STi, it will have the Sti carbon strut brace, Sti logos on the seats, small Sti logos near the clocks, pink i badge, black oval Sti badges on the wings, WRX 'tuned by STi' stickers on the rear quarters and STi on the exhaust, if standard.
