Revs cut out???
Hello chaps i have a 1995 wrx import with 55k miles, full blitz exzaust from engine , air filter induction kit, dump valve and thats it.
The problem i have recently is that when i rev up and then lift my foot of the gas then the revs drop to below 1k and it looks like the car is going to cut out but then suddenly they rise again to 1k revs?? any ideas?? the mods have been on the car for a while and this problem has only just appeared? Any advise would be great and thanks in advance ;-)
I must say i have bee chopping and changeing the juice on the car from qptimax, bp's new one and super unleaded from various stores...would this be a problem??? Is there any thing you chaps recommend i can put in the tank to clean it out???

Hi Voom,
I have had a similar problem over the last couple of weeks, when my car has been standing for 20ish mins, on a boiling hot day it struggles too tick over for a few secs. MY96 UK Turbo.
I have put it down to heat soak.
I am running a K&N 57i and think it's sucking up all that hot air in the engine bay.
Cheers Red.

There are many possible culprits.
Do a search for
Idle Speed Control Valve (ISCV) - May need cleaning, easy job.
Throttle Position Sensor TPS) - May be shagged, not cleanable
Lambda 02 Sensor - Lives in the downpipe behind the turbo and measures exhaust gas. Very likely candidate and best to repace these every 20k miles in my opinion. Very well known culprit of idle probs.
Mass Airflow Sensor - Lives in the airbox and most prone to fail on MY99/00 cars. Earlier ones are more robust but an induction kit will increase the likelyhood of failure.
Hope that helps
