The mount will come off but needs a security torx type key. These can be purchased relativly cheaply from Halfords

Note the use of the word 'security' - these are different to the normal torx keys by having an indent in the centre to accomodate a raised bit on the bolt so the normal ones are useless here.

The mount will not come off with security torx, as the bumper is from a MY99 not a MY98 or earlier.

The number plate mounting point on a MY99 is integral to the bumper, ie one solid mould. The only way to remove it is by cutting it out. Use an hacksaw blade without the handle for finer control.

What are you trying to get extra intake for? Front Mount intercooler? Oil Cooler?

I have a 'cut down' plate that started off as a 7"x12" (with legal size letters) and it is mounted between the foglight and aperture on the front bumper....the plate looks very small but to date have not had any problems with the law as yet
