Talking Advice needed ;)

I'm hopefully buying a sti5 next week,
the car had full decat and a superchip fitted,
I've heared bad thinks about superchips on scoobys but none off anyone who's had them fitted if you know what I mean,

Safest way to go, I beleive that a knock link should be fitted asap , in order the monitor the knocking of the engine, can someone please explain to me in simple terms what this means?

and what to look out for when viewing the car and is there any way in which a complete idiot like me can tell if the engine is running good or not?

I've got about a 175 mile drive home if I buy it and and I dont really want to be worrying if I'm going to make it without the engine going bang!

Am I worrying about nothing or have I got cause for concern?
any help advice would be very welcome

The car was imported from new and octain booster has allways been used,
just shy of 50k miles on the clock.

Taffy, if its done 50K so far, why would your 175 miles be a worry?!
Carry on the same routine as the previous owner, optimax + booster and enjoy!
If you are that worried, drive the car conservativly and book it into a good tuner to have the chip removed, put the ECU back to stock and enjoy what will be a great car.
Good luck with your new toy!

911, I think the superchip has only been on a few hundred miles, the guy seems a very genuine bloke and I guess what I really want to know is, is there any way of telling without a knocklink or boost gauge if the engine is running at a safe level?

I am very exited about the fact that I am just about to buy a 330bhp car,
I just hope nothing goes wrong

Would a knocklink be a valuable addition to this car or would my very limited money be better spent on a boost gauge, to keep an eye on the boost level

Many thanks
