Some garages will realise that a backbox will not effect a claim on an electric window winder.

I've replaced my back box and had two successful claims on the warranty for non related parts.

An awful lot will depend on your dealer. Some won't entertain any changes. Others have a more enlightened attitude. After all, it is they who have to submit the claim. I really can't see that changing a backbox will cause any engine problems. My advice would go and have a chat to your service manager. If you get on well with him, that can make a huge difference.
