Question Power Sapping Air Con

Is it just my car or do other peoples cars drive crap with air con switched on. I know the air con uses a very small amount of power but I've never had a car thats affected so much. For instance when I pull off I have to give more revs than usual and when on boost it definately isn't as 'sharp' accelerating. Is mine faulty or do all scoobys do it?

AFAIK,the ac will cut out at high revs (WOT).

The AC compressor does sap power from the engine but ive never noticed a difference with it on or off.

Might be an idea to get the ac compressor checked out.

With the bonnet up and the ac on,rev the car and see if the compressor clutch is engaging and dissengaging.
It could be a seizing ac pump.Does the ac work well ie cold air?

Hope you get it fixed whilst the weathers still good.

Aircon will normally consume up to 20 bhp in any car.
