Default SECS 1004 water spray problems

Hi,

I had my local garage wire up the water spray feature of the SECS 1004 unit I have yesterday. They followed the instructions as per the PSI PDF file.

As was fine yesterday; you could here the spray coming on when hitting the desired boost.

However last night when I held full boost for several seconds, the SECS unit just went blank and then rebooted itself. Then after that, each time I hit the desired boost, the unit would just reboot.

this morning I drove off and lowered the boost trigger to 1 psi and the first 3 triggers were fine but after holding the boost the SECS unit would again just reboot.

I took it back to the garage this morning and they checked and doubled check all the wiring an earthing and said it was fine. They then suggested that the SECS unit could be at fault.

Any suggestions please anyone ?

Thanks,

Mark.

I had similar probs on an early unit. Using the windscreen washer 3-4 times in a row was fine, after that it turned the SECS off and it rebooted. I emailed Simon and this was the response I got.

Again we have seen this recently but only on 2 other cars both STi8's with
additional hi-fi or NAV equipment fitted. One as yours re-sets when the
washer jets are operated the other when the Intercooler water spray is
operated. We believe there is a interference problem which is causing one of
the IC's on the unit to reset. We are currently looking at the best way to
overcome this problably by adding extra supression around the affected IC.
Hope this helps

Nathan..

Hi Nathan,

I have mailed PSI, so hopefully they will be in touch with a fix. I don't mind if I have to send the unit back to them if they can fix it.

Hey Nathan,

I've been in touch with PSI and they are going to swap my unit over at Japfest for one with uprated IC's to stop it rebooting
