sounds like my problem,,,

its either your camshaft sensor, or your crankshaft sensor,

i replaced cam and found it still did it,, it was the crank,

to confirm if it is the crank sensor, when you next get your non start, open

the bonnet, turn off ignition, and then just unplug the sensor, then after about 1 sec plug it in again,

try to start the car, if it does, its the crank sensor,, if not repeat excersise using the cam sensor...

cost new £ 100+ genuine subaru each sensor
cost s/h £35 grade a

Try cleaning the sensors b4 replacing.
Mine wouldn't start when hot.
I cleaned the sensors 2 years ago and since I've never had a repeat of the problem.
