Help! Car sometimes won't start :(
Over the last couple of months my car (MY01 Bugeye) will sometimes refuse to start. I have to keep turning the key 6-7 times then it will burst into life.
I can hear the fuel pump prime etc but wont turn over. Could it be an immobilizer problem???
Dealer returned no fault found the other week but the fault is still there.
Help anyone!!!
Cheers,
Mark

does it turn over?? or click....
mine did the same,,, turned out to be crap on the starange battery linkage thing they used...
it could draw 12v at rest but due th the furr build up resistance was to great to turn over the stater ..
a good clean of the terminals and a light grease restored normal operation.
other than that try unplugging and replugging the cam sensor & the crank sensor

Dodgy starter motor solenoid would be one explanation, or maybe a dead pole on the starter motor itself. Have the dealers looked at this as a possibility?

Sounds more like battery.. when it happens do all the dash lights go out?
Check the terminals on the battery are tight.. the scoob starter and solenoid seem to last for ever but as said if it is not the battery then they would be the next place to look.

re read my post.... exactly the same symptoms..
put a multimeter on the battery neg and the + on the starter solenoid, and get someone to crank the car,,,
if you get 12v then it eliminates the battery and cable to the solenoid....
if you get less its the battery or the connections

Do you ever start the car and switch it off quite quickly? Sometimes when you do this, it can flood if its not turned off quick enough, so still fuel in the cylinders. When you next come to start, it struggles to fire it. Quite common according to the RAC
Second one, a few people have had intereference from comms cables etc, and pushing it 20m down the road made it start 1st time!

Sounds like a dodgy starter or ignition switch (behind ignition lock)
try turning the key slowly to the start position.
A bad earth connection would also cause similar effects but you would loose
power to the dashboard warning lights at the same time.

cleaned both,
but it was the + cable that was causing the prob,,, it was causing to much resistance and preventing the car from turning,
although it would alow a 12v current to go through thus powering all the dash lights and the immob..
as soon as he cleaned it all of and cleaned everything up it fired first time
